Composite Leaf Springs

Ordering Information

Before ordering, we would like to state once again what the anticipated vehicle rear ride heights will be after the installation of the 135# series composite springs. All chrome bumper roadsters and GTs 14"(355mm) approx. All rubber bumpered roadsters and GTs 15.5"(394mm) approx. Measurement to be taken from the center of the road wheel to the underside of the fender molding. In the event that the molding has been removed, measurements can be taken from the center of the road wheel to the underside of the rear fender arch. This measurement will be approximately 2.5"(63mm) less.

(Further information on the contents of the below paragraph can be found in number 5 "Marketing Update").

Owners wishing to LOWER the rear ride height even further can do so in the normal manner i.e. by installing lowering blocks. Owners wishing to INCREASE the ride height over and above these figures use British Automotive's "Rear Ride Height Adjustable Shackle Pin Kit" along with "Rear Ride Height Adjustable Front Spring Eye Bracket Kit" which, can be installed at the same time as the composite spring installation or thereafter.

NOTE: When installing with the composite springs both these kits must be fitted together as a pair.

"Rear Ride Height Adjustable Shackle Pin Kit" can be fitted solely in conjunction with the OEM type steel road spring set up.

All composite spring sets are assembled using a split Delrin front eye bushing with polyurethane bushing inserts and rear lower spring shackle Delrin bushings. Both Delrin bushing assemblies are epoxied into position and can not be removed from the spring assembly. We supply nylatron spring seating pads along with 1/2" aluminum spacer blocks. Due to fitting problems associated with Nylatron and Delrin upper shackle pin bushings, we also supply the polyurethane (95 Durometer scale) type. All mounting hardware, except "U" bolts, is included. This is now your BASIC composite spring set. Price US$379.95. Please see illustrations 1 below.

Customers receiving the very early designed split front Delrin bushing set up, (without Delrin thrust washers), can install the previously mentioned polyurethane insert kit. However, the spring must be removed from the vehicle to accomplish this. Have the faces of the Delrin bushings machined down by approximately .0625". ! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE THE BUSHINGS FROM THE EYE BRACKET! This operation must be undertaken with bushings intact within the spring.

Customers receiving the split front Delrin bushing set up, (with Delrin thrust washers), can simply discard the thrust washers and install the polyurethane insert kit.

We will provide both these customers with this kit at no charge, however, shipping charges will apply.

So, just to recap, to those people are interested, the various methods of front mounting eye design we have employed over the years:

...MGB OEM silent bloc bushing.

...Split polyurethane bushings. ...Split Delrin Bushings (without Delrin Thrust washers)

...Split Delrin Bushings (with Delrin thrust washers and optional polyurethane insert kit)

...Split Delrin Bushings with polyurethane insert kit.
